Sacramento New Technology High School
College? Many people think about it every day. Right now I am surrounded by classmates that are all thinking about the same thing. What do I want to do after graduating high school? Where do I want to go for college? Do I even want to go? How do I get started? Everyone gets so nervous thinking about college. We are all trying to take the next step in moving on after high school and trying to get a good life for our future. I’m currently a 15 years old sophomore attending Sacramento New Technology High School. For now, I haven’t decided on where I want to go for college yet. But after visiting a few colleges on the Sophomore trips, I’m interested in attending Dominican University of California, a small private college in the bay area. The setting and campus is very nice. Their class sizes and student to teacher ratios are small. They have free tutoring for students that needs help. One of their popular major is nursing. I want to become a nurse so Dominican University of California is one of the colleges that's on my mind after graduating high school. They also have a 100% guarantee of nursing students graduating and getting a good job afterward. The nursing programs sounded very good and nice.
My interest in nursing started when I was in 7th grade. Learning about Life Science in science class got me interested in nursing as well as medical TV shows. One of my favorite medical TV show is Grey’s Anatomy. I love the show; it’s very interesting to me. As I watch Grey’s Anatomy I become more interested and it make me want to become a nurse even more. I’m even thinking of becoming a surgeon. But I’m not sure if I very want to be a surgeon. I’m a caring and loving person that likes to help out people. I like seeing people happy. I want to become or do something in life that involve helping others. Nursing would be a great choice because it would give me the opportunity to help out others while doing something I loved.
I want to be a good role model for my younger siblings and family members. No one in family has been to college so I want set a good example for my younger family members and be the first to go to college. Coming from a different country, not knowing how to speak English and from a big family is very hard especially, being the oldest one. I have to be responsible for everything when my parents are not home. I have to balance out everything that I do in order for me to stay on track.
